Title: THE RED SHOW
Call for Artists:THE RED SHOW 11/15 – 12/7 | GROUP SHOW
Saint Mark's Arts, 4 Saint Mark's Place
Saint Mark’s Arts invites NYC-area artists to participate in our upcoming group exhibition,THE RED SHOW.
How does your work relate to the show theme?
About: THE RED SHOW is an immersive exhibition that explores the emotional power, intensity, and symbolism of the color red. Taking place from November 5th to December 15th, 2024, at Saint Mark's Arts located at 4 Saint Marks Place, NYC, this exhibition features paintings, photographs, and sculptures, all united by the use of red in its many shades and forms.
The color red has long embodied a spectrum of emotions and ideas—passion, love, anger, vitality, and danger. It is a hue that demands attention, stirring deep emotional responses and evoking a sense of urgency or intensity. THE RED SHOW taps into these associations, offering viewers a visceral experience where red serves as the connective thread through a diverse array of artworks.
Each piece in this exhibit reflects the spirit of red in its own unique way. Some works may speak to the energy and vibrancy that red exudes, while others may focus on its darker, more complex connotations. The exhibit becomes a space where emotions are amplified, allowing the audience to feel the power of red as it moves from artwork to artwork.
If you are contributing to THE RED SHOW, think about how your work connects to the emotional resonance of red. Whether your piece channels love, fire, strength, or even rebellion, it will contribute to a larger narrative about the emotional depth and transformative power of this color. Through your paintings, photographs, or sculptures, you will be engaging in a conversation about the primal and symbolic force that red represents, contributing your unique artistic voice to this bold and evocative exploration.
We encourage artists to submit their strongest work that exemplifies this transformation from the streets to the gallery. Whether your piece is rooted in graffiti, stenciling, murals, or other urban influences, we want to see how you’ve adapted street art into the gallery setting. Submit your best example for consideration in this exciting and dynamic show.
